Canopies UK Ltd is accredited within the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) having demonstrated compliance with, and sound management of, current basic health and safety legislation.
Since 1990 Canopies UK has grown to be the country's largest supplier, manufacturer and installer of bespoke, hand-built canopies and carports. We have a reputation for exceptional quality and service built on the recommendations of tens of thousands of happy homeowners, schools and businesses throughout the UK.
We are also a member of Constructionline.
Constructionline pre-qualify all of their suppliers to government standards, and maintain relationships with a range of industry, ePurchasing and Government partners to ensure that they remain relevant to procurement professionals within the construction industry.
System 2000 range of patio canopies and carports.
The support beams are manufactured in highly durable glass reinforced polyester (GRP) and are available up to 3.6m in projection and in any length. This allows us to provide a bespoke made to measure service.
The roofing panels are also manufactured from GRP and are naturally translucent. Designed AB rated BS476 fire test parts 3 & 7. Melinex – a substance which prevents UV light discolouring the panel is added on the top side. The sheet allows approximately 85% of the light through (the same as glass) and the Melinex screens out harmful UV rays, thus preventing the fading of furnishings and protection from the sun.
Fully Tested Product
All our canopies comply to BS6399-2:1997 for wind loadings and BS6399-3:1998 for imposed loads and have been independently tested . Full scale canopy structures were tested using a combination of upward and downward loads. More recent tests were undertaken with design load specifications as defined in Eurocodes EC1 Parts 3 and 4 (which has recently succeeded BS6399). These tests have been verified by independent Structural Engineers, in addition we have our own in house ‘test rig’ which allows us to constantly improve all our products. This allows us to provide calculations to confirm the integrity of our product no matter where you are in the country.
Additional Peace of Mind
Canopies UK are now in our 21st Year of supplying quality canopies to thousands of customers all over the UK. A significant percentage of our work comes from recommendation from existing customers. As well as being CHAS accredited, Constructionline registered we are an approved supplier to many Local Authorities and large building contractors. All employees attending site will be CRB checked and we do not sub contract out any installations ensuring that any fitting personell attending site are fully trained in installing your product.
Building Regulations & Planning Permission
As a general rule if your canopy is over 30m2 then it will require conformity to building regulations but we would recommend speaking to your local building control officer(s) to confirm. Our canopies conform to the standards required and we can provide a set of calculations confirming the proposed structure is suitable. We can assist in any paperwork that needs completing , this service is offered free of charge.
Similarly canopies under 35m2 will not normally require planning permission but this can change dependent on the exact location. We would advise you contact your local planning authority, if required we can provide free of charge scaled drawings to assist in the application process.
